iHealth has announced that they are seeking FDA clearance on a new wireless glucometer for iOS devices. The glucometer will use the iHealth MyVitals App to record up to 500 readings, track trends, set up testing and medication reminders and track test strip expiration dates. This device adds to iHealth's growing catalog of wireless devices which include blood pressure monitors and weight scales. They also provide an open API which would allow researchers to have access to data generated by these devices. Pricing for the device has not been set, but the company hopes to have them available for purchase in the 2nd half of 2013.
